Our trip will take you into the heart of the Weminuche Wilderness which is Colorado's largest most rugged and scenic area enjoying wilderness designation. All travel is restricted to foot or horseback, insuring the unspoiled effect of the many high alpine basins, streams and lakes. Several peaks are over 14,000 feet with many being just under that. Our campsite is reached by a 14 mile horseback ride into a location at 10,300 feet, just below the Continental Divide.

Our accommodations are quite comforable, including a 16 X 20 dining tent and cabin style sleeping tents accommodating two guests each. They are equipped with full sized cots and Eddie Bauer pads for exceptional comfort in a primitive setting. We also enjoy the luxury of a hot shower which has proven to be quite popular through the years. Our meals are excellent and include gourmet fooods and fresh baked desserts.

During the course of a typical 5 day trip, we will ride loop routes from camp over passes to nearly 13,000 feet that reveal inspiring vistas of surrounding peaks and watersheds. We expericnce excellent fishing in 3 streams and 5 lakes for Brook, Cutthroat, Native and Rainbow trout with some weighing up to 5 pounds. The Pine River flows right in front of camp offering very good fly fishing for the novice and accomplished angler alike.

Local wildlife includes Elk, Mule Deer, Bighorn Sheep, Black Bear, Blue Grouse, Ptarmigan and an occasional Mountain Lion, though the latter is seldom seen. Mule Deer are often photographed in our camp as they are quite accustomed to our presence. Elk are much more shy but can offer excellent photographic opportunities in the higher basins.

Our horses have all been selected for character and physical stamina enabling them to negotiate precipitous terrain in a very depnedable manner. As we operate in a wilderness area all of our supplies and camp equipment is packed in on horseback. This certainly makes one appreciate the elaborate camp developed to accommodate our guests. Most of our equipment is packed utilizing a single or double diamond hitch which results in a secure load. It is most certainly an art and offers some very distinctive opportunities to photograph.

In order to provide each person with personalized, high quality service, we limit our group sizes to no more than 8 clients per trip. Longer stays can be arranged if made well in advance.

Prices are per person/per day. Please reserve online, or call us toll-free at 800-301-5647.
